Lucien Chenu Biography
Lucien Chenu was born in Vendee, France on August 21, 1913. Chenu received formal artistic training and graduated from Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He went on to become one of the most prominent artists in Paris and became a member of various important art associations. He also holds many high public distinctions. Among these are the title of the French Ministry of Education and the gold medal for art, science and literature. Chenu is also a member of the Directorate of the Association de Artistes Francais. Other important achievements include:
-President of the Salon Violet, Section Beaux Arts of the Association Nationals des Palmes Academiques
-President of the Association of Art Connoisseurs at Vanves
-Treasurer of the Salon d’hiver (Winter-Salon)
-Treasurer of the Association of Lovers of the French Landscape Painters
-Bronze medal at the Salon de Levallois Perret in 1954
-Silver medal at the Department de la Seine in 1956
-Honourable mention at the Salon de Artistes Francais, 1961
-Prize of the Art Association of Levallois Perret. 1964
-Silver Medal of the Salon Violet, 1964
Chenu’s use of color and light capture the beauty and mood of his beautiful landscapes. He is able to convey the serenity and the beautiful palette nature offers everyday. Chenu passed away in 2004.
